HIPAA Policy/ Patient Confidentiality
Your privacy is important to us. We know that you feel that your health and medical information is private and should be protected. The Federal law gives you rights over your health information and sets rules and limits on who can look at and receive your health information. We are required to provide our patients with a notice of privacy practices that describes how your health information may be used and shared.
Patient Confidentiality
Gynecology & Obstetrics Associates of Tallahassee is serious about patient confidentiality. Patient confidentiality was one of the deciding factors when choosing an electronic medical record (EMR) product in early 2005. Our EMR, Athena® , has the appropriate safeguards (e.g., encryption; message authentication, user verification, etc.) to protect physician and patient privacy. Individuals with access to our EMR are subject to policies and procedures regarding the entry, management, storage, transmission and distribution of patient information.
The medical record, whether it is on paper or electronic, is the property of Gynecology & Obstetrics Associates of Tallahassee. You may obtain a copy of your medical record by signing a Medical Records Release form.
